地名与历史[edit]
明洪武三十年（1397年）立寨；因地势低洼、四周有水沟，雨季内涝时水面如湖，故名沟湖。[1]1950年隶属联美三乡，1958年公社化后属沟湖大队，1979年分出北沟大队，1983年起称沟湖乡，1986年起改居委会，1992年起称管理区，1999年又恢复居委会。[1]
经济与文化[edit]
耕地618亩，以水稻为主，传统工艺有“沟湖屏景”。[1]改革开放后，社区里的湖光路成为文胸配件一条街，社区也生产文胸内衣、配件和塑料丝花，建筑企业共19家，小作坊计123家；集体出资建酒店、超市和西市场出租。[1]1988年村民与华侨集资建校舍，2009年扩建教学楼，陈店华侨医院设在辖区内。[1]
