东山社区是东阳街道下辖的社区，地处黄岐山南麓，东面临站前大道，南面连接马牙东路，后侧临近揭阳火车站，面积约2平方千米。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

社区有1000多亩山林，另有约1000亩土地被征用；村民宅基地分得400多亩，尚有约65亩可供出租。社区内设五个单元，位于市区北入口，交通区位明显。[1][2]

人口与经济[edit]

社区常住居民约5600人，另有外来流动人口3000多人。社区每年经济收入约200多万元，村民收入主要来自经商、出租自建房屋和外出务工。[2]

文化与荣誉[edit]

社区建设了占地约60亩的文化公园。2019年9月，社区上榜2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2023年4月，「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单公布，社区在列。[1]

广东省爱卫会于2023年5月授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
