东山镇是广东省潮州市饶平县下辖的镇，位于县境中部山区，地处闽粤交界，与福建省诏安县接壤，距县城36公里，总面积72平方公里[1]。2021年6月公布的第七次全国人口普查结果显示，全镇人口为1.66万人[2]。镇人民政府驻东山圩，镇内以农业为主，茶叶和竹器加工是主要产业[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1949年，东山圩建于东山村，镇名由此而来[2]。明清两代，本地隶属饶平县的弦歌都东洋堡：明代的所属单位是小榕社，清代则归元歌都东洋堡管辖[3]。民国时期，1928年与1948年两次记载显示此处归浮山区管辖[2]。

1951年8月，东山一带划入第五区（浮山）。1956年底起设东山乡，仍归浮山区；1958年9月，该乡并入浮山公社。1973年，东山自浮山公社中析出，另立东山公社。1983年11月起公社改称区，1986年11月又由区改为乡，1993年10月设立东山镇[2]。

地理环境[edit]

东山镇地处饶平县中部山区，与建饶镇、汤溪镇、浮山镇、渔村镇相接[1]。镇域山地近10万亩，耕地7800亩；目前已开发的山地约占总面积的15%[1]。概况未注明这些数字的统计年份。

经济[edit]

农产品以茶叶、青梅、橄榄、荔枝、龙眼、赤皮梨为主，茶叶年产量近500吨，水果的年产量则近4000吨[1]。竹器加工属镇内的传统行业，全镇80%的农户参与竹制品生产；水美竹器工艺厂出品的竹工艺品，花色近百种，销往东南亚等地[1]。

维基百科称东山镇属潮汕话使用范围[3]，百度百科则称双罗村村民属客家民系、使用客家方言[4]，两种说法并存。
