东山村位于杜步镇东面，村委距圩镇约12千米，下辖36个村民小组。[1]

2005年4月，竹塘、小门、深水三个村委会被撤销，并入东山村委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建制变化与杜步镇其他村相同：1940年设保，1952年改为乡政府，1958年10月改为生产大队，1983年11月复为乡政府，1987年1月改为村委会，1989年11月改为管理区，1999年3月重回村委会。阳山县人民政府于2005年4月发文（阳府〔2005〕16号），同意撤销竹塘、小门、深水三个村委会，其辖地归入东山村委会。[1]

地名来源于该村山多地势高峻，且位于杜步镇东面。[1]

人口民族[edit]

2013年末，东山村总户籍人口10360人，共2332户，劳动力4664人。其中常住本村的人口为1260人、345户，大部分农户已外迁居住。[1]

经济[edit]

常住村民的收入以外出务工为主，另有种植花生、大青豆、红芽芋，以及腐竹加工和养殖业。2013年，农民年人均纯收入5860元。[1]

据博雅地名网，村集体经济收入达20万元（年份未注）；上一轮扶贫中，214户604人的建档立卡贫困人口已全部脱贫。[1]
