长塘村在蓝塘镇的镇乡结合区，村名因当地有一口长方形的大水塘而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年人民公社化时，长塘隶属蓝塘公社的加元大队。1961年它独立设队，1963年重新并入加元，1974年才又单设长塘大队。进入八十年代，先在1983年转为乡，1987年称村委会；1989年设管理区，1999年再撤区设长塘村民委员会，这一名称保留到现在。[1]
