元吉村位于蓝塘镇，村名取「元桔」与「元吉」谐音，寓意吉祥，此地曾盛产桔子。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
元吉1958年起是蓝塘公社的元吉大队，1982年前建制不变。其后的建制变动是：1983年大队转为乡，1987年起叫村委会，1989年又称管理区，1999年撤去管理区，改设元吉村民委员会，名称沿用至今。[1]
元吉村是2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位（2019年9月公布），亦列入「2019年广东省卫生村」（同年10月）；2026年3月，又被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇。[1]
经济[edit]
2004年镇概况提到，元吉村的春甜桔场与益农猪场、金农果苗公司一起，是镇里稳步发展的农业龙头企业。[2]
