历史沿革[edit]

1953年设西村大队，1983年建乡，1987年起设村民委员会，1989年又叫管理区办事处，1999年定名西村村民委员会，一直用到现在。[1]

地名由来[edit]

怀德县城于公元598年建在池洞的车国村，此村在县城以西，因此叫西村。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网（未注明年份）载：全村在册1581户、6325人，总面积8平方千米，耕地2530亩；年平均气温16.5℃至22.8℃，年降雨量约1477至1941毫米，属南亚热带季风气候。主要作物为水稻和香蕉，特色收入是养殖，上一年村农村经济总收入350万元。[1]
