东向村是新会区睦洲镇东部的行政村，距江珠高速公路出口约300米，西与三江镇接壤，东隔西江与大鳌镇相望，下辖10个村民小组，是睦洲镇的侨乡之一。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
南宋德祐元年（1275年），陆姓、赵姓先人迁居龙头山东侧，后来廖、陈、李等姓陆续迁到山西约1公里的山边居住，村落扩大，仍称东向。[2]康熙年间的县志已记有东向村。[1]民国和建国初期隶属睦洲乡，1958年并入睦洲管理区，次年立东向大队，1999年起称东向村委会。[2][1]
地名由来[edit]
文献中又作“东乡”，当时是新会县最东面的乡村；另一说因村在龙头山东侧，房屋坐西向东。[3]
经济[edit]
全村面积2578亩，常住512户、1963人。传统农业以水稻为主，另有水产养殖、花卉和绿色蔬菜种植，村内有4家企业。[1]村集体经济收入2021年为210万元，2022年为270万元。[1]借「广东南方职业学院」新校区和新能源产业园落地的机会，东向村被列为睦洲镇乡村振兴示范带的科技文化节点。[4]
荣誉[edit]
东向村在2023年4月进入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单，2024年3月获「2023年广东省卫生村」称号，2026年1月被评为「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[2]
