历史沿革[edit]
在明清两代，山南是三江司山南堡的一部分，民国时设山南乡，先后属第三区、第二区。[2]
新中国成立后，它隶属的公社几经变动：跃进（大沥）公社，松岗小公社，东风（官窑）公社，在后者名下称红卫大队，1972年起改叫山南大队。1981年起，归松岗公社管理。[2] 其后的建制依次是乡政府（1983年）、村民委员会（1987年）、管理区办事处（1989年），1999年恢复为村民委员会。2011年，村民委员会改设为居民委员会。[2]
地理环境[edit]
社区西面是松岗河，北面与龙头村委会相接，禅炭公路、沿江南路、山南大道穿过境内。[1]
人口民族[edit]
据该社区的自我介绍（年份未注明），常住人口4997人、1282户，居住半年以上的外来人口约5790人；居委会分17个居民小组，如鹤园、岐阳、澳涌、巷口、荷溪、上东、上西等。[1]
文化[edit]
2010年，该社区获评五星级农村社区、四星级健康村；2011年又获「平安村居」称号。[1]
