西村是开平市沙塘镇东北部的行政村，距镇政府约1公里，下设4个村民小组，352户、1292人，耕地850亩。[1]
地名由来[edit]
据地名资料，此地是开平劳氏的发源地：始祖从新宁（今台山）羊路的西村迁来，沿用了原村名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代在开平县平康都的范围内，到民国时期归第一区五美乡，1949年后为第十区西村乡。1961年归苍城公社，称西村大队，次年转属沙塘公社。[1]
1984年设西村乡；1992年起隶属沙塘镇，名西村管理区；1999年定为西村村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村辖地方小，没有可用土地，集体经济较薄弱。2009年集体收入6.5万元，主要来自鱼塘和经济林承包款。[1]
