上垌村属石鼓镇，早年黄氏、钟氏在此定居，因后来水利兴修，旱地变成上等田垌，故名“上垌”[1]。村以沃柑入选广东省“一村一品”专业村[1]。

名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，黄氏、钟氏最初来到这里时，地势偏高又没有水利设施，收成很差。中华人民共和国成立后修水利、精耕细作，连年丰收，耕地成了上等的田垌，村名由此而来[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958至1959年并入大水田大队，1961年以后分出，成立上垌大队；此后1983年成上垌乡，1986年成农村管理区，1999年起称上垌村民委员会[1]。

经济[edit]

上垌村是「第二批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」之一，主打产品为沃柑（2021年9月公布）[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月获2021年广东省卫生村称号；2022年1月，被广东省乡村振兴局确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位[1]。
