莲青村在汕头市潮南区峡山街道西南部，原名莲塘村，因创村时这里有一莲池，后改称莲青。百度百科载，明崇祯年间唐氏祖先从福建迁来。2015年底曾列为广东省相对贫困村，后获评广东省卫生村。[1][2][3]

全村536户、3101人，辖区980亩，耕地631亩，2009年工农业总产值845万元。1995年华侨集资建成约40亩的莲塘学校，2003年底建成长1.2公里的村道，并形成工业小区，有5家企业、12家家庭作坊，生产酒店旅游用品、塑料珠饰和针织品。[2]
