峡山社区是汕头市潮南区峡山街道的中心社区，街道办事处和潮南区政府一带的商业区都在这里，也是街道里人口最多的社区：据博雅地名网所载，辖区面积2.105平方千米，3366户、19598人。社区名取自龟山与蛇山之间的峡谷，明隆庆年间（1567—1572）定名峡山。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

峡山旧称“合山”，也叫“玉峡”：龟山、蛇山相对而立，溪水从两山之间流过，像一条玉带绕着山峡，因此取两山相合之意。明隆庆年间改称峡山。[3][1]

明嘉靖四十二年（1563年），周氏的周光命从图溪乡迁来此地定居；万历二十四年（1596年），大理寺卿周光镐辞官回乡，也在这里安家。居民以周姓为主，另有陈、萧、苏、林等六十多个姓氏。[1]

明、清至民国初期，这里属潮阳县黄陇都新兴乡，1921年属潮阳县第五区。1950年设峡山镇，1952年改乡，1956年12月改称峡山村，1958年为峡山大队，1984年复为乡，1987年改居委会，1993年4月称管理区，1999年5月再改居委会。[3]

经济[edit]

峡山素有“商埠”之称，金光路、峡华路等十条商业街在社区内纵横交错，沿街新建的商住楼房两千多幢，另有峡山商场和商贸中心。2009年的工农业总产值为12.9226亿元，人均年收入5327元，另收工商税2417.2319万元。[1]

辖区内有三十多家企业，主要做精细化工、针织服装和文具用品，拥有“雅倩”“雅嘉”“佳雪”三个中国驰名商标。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

龟山顶上是峡山街道的祥符塔，恩波路旁是缵绪堂（周光镐纪念馆），两处在博雅地名网的社区介绍中都列为重点文物保护单位，详见街道条目。[1]
