南村是广州市白云区龙归街道下辖的行政村，在龙归街道的南部，下设14个经济社，面积约7平方千米。[1]村子建于南宋年间，已有八百多年历史，开村的周氏祖先相传为周敦颐的第九代孙周仕龙、周遂禄，村内的周氏大宗祠俗称“孖祠堂”。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，南村建于南宋中期，因当时房屋都坐北朝南而得名。[1]1946年以前，今南岭、永兴等地也在南村名下；1952至1958年间与周边合为南园乡；1961年设南村大队，1984年改称南村乡，1987年撤乡设村民委员会，原属龙归镇，2004年随龙归镇并入太和镇，2020年划归新设的龙归街。[1][3]

清代咸丰年间，南村与园下（今园夏村）为方便船运，在石马村水圳基础上开挖运河，建起南元埠，也称南园埠；到广花公路通车以前，它是龙归墟货物进出的主要码头，现存《南元埠碑记》记其事。[4]

人口民族[edit]

博雅地名网记常住人口5000多人，旅居海外和港澳的乡亲6000多人；广州市政府网站转载的报道则称，海外华人华侨有2万余人，1860年起就有村民出洋，去了美国、英国和加拿大，1928年华侨与邻村集资修建旧广花公路和人和大桥。[1][2]

博雅地名网称全村有工业企业约100家。[1]近年村里的留用地项目有商业用房和综合能源中心，前者于2024年7月主体封顶。[2]

文化[edit]

周氏大宗祠由东西两座规模和样式相同的祠堂并排而成，所以叫“孖祠堂”，建于明末清初，被评为广州市文物点。[1][2]报道称它是白云区面积较大、保存较好的古建筑之一。[2]祠堂内有一株古凤凰木，每年5月开花时常有游客来看。[2]村里的地标另有八角古庙、蟠龙古榕和云青学舍；不少地名和典故与“莲”有关，与村民奉周敦颐为先祖有关。[2]重阳节时，村里在孖祠堂广场摆宴，请六十岁以上的老人、周氏宗亲和华侨乡亲同席。[2]

南村是广东省“百千万工程”第一批典型村，2024年建成仙圳桥并建了18个小型公园，另在筹建南村牌坊。[2]
