历史沿革[edit]
村子在清代建立，旧称南山村。民国时期（20世纪30年代）这里设南山乡，1987年乡制改为村制，成立南村村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
南村邬氏大宗祠在村内的南山大道，为清代建筑，有「番禺明清四大祠堂」之一的说法。祠堂共三路三进，咸丰五年（1855年）始建，光绪五年（1879年）重修后堂，光绪七年（1881年）增建仪门。[1]番禺区政府门户网站公布的区级文物保护单位名录中列有南村邬氏大宗祠。[2]
文化[edit]
2006年，村里的彭地龙舟队在广州市国际龙舟邀请赛的彩龙竞艳比赛中获得一等奖。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2023年11月，南村入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村。[1]
