历史沿革[edit]
村由海沙淤积的草坦筑围而成，据村情介绍，筑围距今约150年（年份未注明）。1953年，新围、上村、南村三处合为南新乡（后称五联乡）；1961年新围单立大队，1965年又同上村、南村组成红星大队；1972年重新单立。1984年改乡，1987年起为新围村，设村民委员会。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
村内潭新公路长约1.5公里，与中山隔水相望，海岸线1000多米。村有1754人，耕地2555亩，原以水稻、甘蔗为主，后调整了农业结构。2024年，村被认定为广州市充分就业村。[1]
