大坪村明末清初已有郑氏等姓氏定居，此后建制几经变动。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1620年前后，郑氏的始祖淑慎公由韶关南雄一带迁入，其后张、黄等姓也陆续来此居住。现有张、郑、黄、温、陈等十余个姓氏，其中张、郑、黄三姓占70%。[2]

1952年曾立大坪乡；1958年编为大坪生产大队。1961年起归郁南县，隶东坝人民公社。1983年设大坪乡人民政府，1987年以村民委员会建制取代，1989年一度改为管理区，至1999年才恢复村民委员会。[1][2]

大坪村于2019年10月列入广东省卫生村的2019年名录，2020年12月又由广东省爱卫会授予「2020年广东省卫生村」称号。2024年3月，村子被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」，2023年4月则列入「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单。[1]
