村名大坪，源于村民在一座顶部平坦的小山岗周围建房聚居。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前此地称簕竹农会。1949年10月，它划归第一区，属簕竹乡；1950年改设大坪乡。1955年，地方划入南平区，同年2月又回到簕竹乡。[1][3]

1958年11月，村并入簕竹公社，设为大坪大队；此建制到1983年11月为止，其间1961年至1963年曾一分为三。1983年12月起，这里成为簕竹区公所下的大坪乡，至1989年6月；1986年11月至1999年2月间改由簕竹镇管理，设大坪管理区；1999年3月设立大坪村民委员会。[1][2][3]
