红光社区位于簕竹镇中心区，是簕竹镇的一个社区。社区名取「红色江山」之意，是镇区内一处城市式的小聚落。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初，这里隶属新兴县第一区，名为簕竹乡。1958年，它被并入簕竹公社，成为红光大队；1983年至1989年间，这里归簕竹区公所管理，改称红光乡。[1][2]

1989年起改由簕竹镇管辖，先设红光管理区，后改称红光村委会；2002年，又改为红光居委会。[1][2]

2019年9月，社区上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2024年1月，社区被确定为「2023年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」。[1]
