南汾村在汕尾市城区红草镇埔边西面约3.5公里，背靠五叶莲山，面向长沙湾，2009年总人口7998人，是红草镇人口最多的村之一。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，村名的传说是北宋年间谬、袁、林三姓最先在此建居，三姓住处呈南向鼎立之势，故称南汾。1949年后设南汾乡，属海丰县第五区，后归红草区；公社化时期设南汾大队；其管理区在1989年设立，村委会则在1999年成立。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

南汾小学右侧约100米的城隍庙旁，有一座神马亭，亭内的“石马”是一整块花白色花岗岩粗雕而成，披鞍而立，高2.1米、长2.3米，马背高1.3米。相传雕于宋末，原弃在村里尖山的跌马埔。当地有三种说法：霸王的坐骑，宋帝昺的坐骑，或是跌马埔打石场替人订制、因宋末元初战乱无人来取而丢在山脚的石马。[2]

经济[edit]

东南为丘陵，东、北和西北是平原、滩涂。以农业为主，兼做海水养殖，养虾蟹、牡蛎，镇里“三高”农业的一处荔枝基地也设在村里。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月公布的广东省民主法治示范村（社区）2018年度创建名单中有该村。[1]
