历史沿革[edit]
明阳寨原名宜娘寨，得名于北宋女将杨宜娘。据村情资料引《梅州市地名志》，杨宜娘奉旨征讨侬智高，曾在此安营扎寨；该志另有一说，杨家将杨文广征南时也曾在此驻扎。[1]
据村情资料所述，1052年杨宜娘奉旨领兵增援杨文广，驻守此寨，后殉身于寨顶。她驻寨之前和之后约四百年间，此寨称李洋山；明代中期，当地池氏的七世祖法传公，其妻陈氏给它取名宜娘寨（又作尼娘寨），因「宜娘」与「明阳」谐音，1949年后改称明阳寨。1949年设明阳乡，隶属城北区；1956年撤区并乡，归城西乡。1958年改设明阳大队，属卫星人民公社（后称梅城人民公社），1960年改属新设的城北人民公社。1983年设明阳乡；1987年改为村民委员会，隶属城北乡；1989年称明阳管理区；1998年定名为明阳村委会，隶属城北镇。[1]

村情资料载，全村有650户、2806人，总面积2.83平方公里，耕地1088亩，主要种水稻，并大力发展蔬菜种植；所记上一年农村经济总收入2388万元（年份未注明）。[1]
