新光村是惠州市惠城区汝湖镇的行政村，沿东江一带分布，村民姓氏较多。[1]

据村情介绍，早年王、江、严、尹、李等姓的先人陆续来到岗头圩和新圩一带，靠江定居，在新圩办了学堂，设了圩市，之后人家散布到松子岭、老早阳等地，取名「新光」，寓意向新的目标发展。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新光在1950年归新联乡，1955年办初级社，次年转高级社，1960年称大队，1981年改乡，1984年设管理区，1999年起为村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
