新光村位于惠州市惠城区潼湖镇北部，沿东江南岸，距镇中心5公里，全村面积15.07平方公里，下设16个村民小组，总人口3737人、807户（博雅地名网所载，未注明年份）。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村北临东江，东江流经潼湖的一段长17公里，新光一侧的岸线据称可建十多个1000吨以下的深水泊位；据同一来源，规划中的沿江公路到惠州市区约20公里。[1]中型的观洞水库在村内，村里另有一座小（二）型的在坑水库。[1]观洞水库在村东北，周围有山，最高处阿公石海拔350米，库中有南沙岛、湖心岛、三环岛、珍珠岛等岛屿；南沙岛因水位抬升而成，有两条路通到岛上。[1]
经济[edit]
全村有30多个农业生产基地，主要种甜玉米和荔枝。荔枝收入主要惠及新溪、上河、郑三、新春等村民小组。[1]
