光明村在悦怀公路沿线，距莫村圩镇6公里，面积9平方公里，下辖4个村民小组，2130人。[1]村名原先取自何氏祠堂所在的古洲，1966年建成小水电站、全村有了照明，遂改名光明。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初是光明乡，1962年起为光明大队，1989年改管理区，到1998年称村委会。2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]

经济[edit]

属山区丘陵，悦河谷地是主要耕作区，产稻谷和柑桔，山地以松杂木和速生桉为主。[1]
