车牛村地处德庆、高要等县区交界，下辖3个村民小组，600多人，距莫村镇26公里，是莫村镇最偏远的村。^[1]村名缘于村在河边，水流落差大，人们习惯用水车代替牛拉磨。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

车牛在1951年至1973年是大队，1974年至1979年称管理区，1980年至1987年设乡政府，1988年至1998年再称管理区，最后在1998年成立村民委员会。^[1]

通村只有一条4米宽的水泥路。村里引进外资开采瓷砂矿，边开发边治理复绿；山上种桂和速生桉，并种茶叶、吊钟花，山边田头种沙糖桔、贡柑，水田种水稻、芥菜、花生。^[1]
