光明村在明城镇西南部，面积约34.5平方千米，是全镇最大的村。村名来自驻地原为明城公社光明大队所在地^[1]。2004年6月，原苗村、坟典、云勇三个村委会合并为光明村委会^[2]。

地理与村情[edit]

村东邻杨和镇，西接更合镇，南与鹤山市宅梧镇相邻，距高明区政府约35公里，距明城镇政府约13公里。丘陵约占全村面积的三分之二，下辖苗村、里坑、白石坑、品村、松木塘、云勇、甘蕉、塘际、波泔、坟典等12条自然村。现有1253户，户籍人口5180人^[2]。

耕地6648亩，山地36272亩。2017年村集体经济总收入为3834.4万元，以种植、养殖和林木为主，砂糖桔、生姜、粉葛等较为知名；杨更大道沿线有木材市场，工业尚未起步，山林保护较好^[2]。2022年10月被认定为「广东省‘一村一品、一镇一业’专业村」（水产种苗）^[1]。

波泔村旁的山中有何立秉墓，建于明正德八年（1513年）^[3]。
