1958年称西村大队，1983年改属西村乡，1987年镇建立后称西村村民委员会，1989年成立管理区办事处，1999年复称村民委员会。[1]

村内高枨村有承轩黄公祠，建于清末民初，属古建筑，是化州市第四批县级文物保护单位。[1]
