过去村东有一口大池塘，村因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

塘头大队成立于1961年，1983年建乡，1986年改称农村管理区，1999年起设村民委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月，塘头村名列「2019年广东省卫生村」；2019年12月，列入第一批国家森林乡村；2026年1月，获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
