村委会下设10个自然村，即棠安、新冈、联新、龙村、布移，以及桥康、棠北、棠荣、东兴、沙溪，共551户、2308人，总面积11167.9亩，耕地2110亩，其中水田1829亩。[1][2]村民种植水稻、蔬菜，百度百科还提到柠檬和番石榴；养殖有生猪、鸡鸭鹅和鱼。[1][2]2021年12月，棠安村获评2021年广东省卫生村。[1]
立新水库的立新水电站位于村内，装机容量160千瓦，设计年发电量30万千瓦时。[2]村党总支部有党员58人。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历是：过去始光大队设在棠安村，故以此为村民委员会之名。[1]清代时归开平县长静都；民国年间归第二区；新中国成立初期属十一区棠红乡；1961年划入龙胜公社，名棠安大队；1984年起为棠安乡；1989年称管理区；1999年起设棠安村民委员会。[1]
