村委会占地1.1平方千米，耕地280亩，属潭江冲积平原，南面有零星丘陵坡地。百度百科称辖16条自然村、407户、1459人，村民以农业为主，近年不少人经商或进城务工。村内有东河中学和思始小学。[1][2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，思始村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[2]
