南塘村隶属高州市南塘镇，在城乡分类中属镇乡结合区[1]。村名与镇名同源，出自卖儿挖塘养鱼的传说，最初写作“男塘”，清代建集市后改“南塘”[1]。

地名由来[edit]

相传古时这里有户贫苦人家，卖掉儿子来挖塘养鱼，积下钱后又把儿子赎回，儿子接着父业养鱼，所以起名“男塘”；清代在此设集市，改称“南塘”[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月，南塘村入选广东省卫生村名录（2019年度）[1]。
