历史沿革[edit]
明崇祯元年（1628年），许氏人家来此定居，村落坐落在一口池塘之南，故名南塘。[2][3] 1953年，南塘与后浦、林畔、雅道梓四村合为南塘乡。[4]
人口与经济[edit]
2002年全村土地面积0.6087平方千米，耕地572亩，230户894人，有29个姓氏，邱、陈、张、吴等姓较多；村集体经济总收入368.436万元。[2] 20世纪90年代起发展果树和花卉，2002年果树20亩、花卉40亩。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
南塘村东旱园的古村落遗址出土了宋代梅花心旋纹瓦当、瓦筒、灯座、四耳罐残件、碗片和渔网坠等，对研究宋代的生活有参考价值。[2]
