南塘村位于梅州市平远县八尺镇北部，辖12个村民小组，在册240户、981人，总面积6.78平方千米，耕地891亩。[1]
地名由来[edit]
土改以前村名为寒塘。土改时南湖、豪坑、石下、寒塘四处合并成一个农会，会名摘南湖的「南」与寒塘的「塘」两字，沿用为村名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
建国初期称南塘乡，人民公社化后的1958年改设大队，1965年冬至1975年冬隶属国营楼前农场，1987年起设村民委员会，期间1989年改称管理区，至1999年4月为南塘村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
种植西瓜、烤烟、甜玉米和仙草；据该页所载，上一年农村经济总收入440.3万元。[1]
荣誉[edit]
省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位之一（2019年9月公布）。[1]
