历史沿革[edit]
清代在此建集镇，地名改称南塘；民国时期设南丰乡，辖南塘、丰垌两地[1]。1953年先后归茂名县第十四区、南塘区管辖；1958年成立南塘公社；1983年恢复为区；1986年12月改为镇[1]。
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，南塘社区在广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单之列[1]。
