会城街道是广东省江门市新会区下辖的街道，位于新会区北部，区人民政府设在这里。街道办事处在新桥路9号。[1][2]

百度百科记其面积为140.5平方千米，维基百科记为140.66平方千米。2019年末统计的户籍人口为28.3万，常住人口约42万，其中城镇20.3万、农村8万。[1][2] 它是新会区仅有的一个街道，原为会城镇，2005年改为街道。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

北边靠着圭峰山和云峰山，山后是蓬江区的杜阮镇与白沙街道；东面隔江门水道，对岸是江海区礼乐街道和新会区三江镇；南面隔银洲湖，与双水镇相望；西面隔潭江及其支流，与司前镇、大泽镇、罗坑镇为邻。[1][2] 气候属亚热带海洋性季风气候。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

隋开皇十年（590年）废新会郡、设新会县，县城即设在今会城一带。唐贞观十三年（639年）置冈州，州城也在这里，因此会城又有「冈城」之称。[2]

1361年（元至正二十一年），县城在黄斌起义中被攻陷；1368年（明洪武元年）起义平定，县治重设于会城。[2] 民国二十年（1931年）3月，县政府迁往江门镇石湾庙，六年后迁回；1939年4月日军占领县城，县政府迁到双水镇天亭豪山，1945年9月县城光复。[2]

1950年4月末，新会县政府从江门迁回会城。此后的建制变化是：1951年称会城镇，1961年6月改为人民公社，1971年6月恢复为会城镇，1992年与环城镇合并，2001年又并入七堡镇，2005年2月撤镇设街道办事处。[1][2]

据百度百科，2019年街道的外贸进出口总额为46.9亿元，比上年增长1.3%，实际利用外资1050万美元。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

街道内的游览去处有圭峰山、玉台寺、玉湖、紫云观、滑草场和石涧公园，也有梁启超故居、新会学宫（今新会博物馆所在）、景堂图书馆、小鸟天堂、陈皮村和银湖湿地公园等。[1][2] 梁启超故居在茶坑村，小鸟天堂在天马村一带。[3][4]
