南美村在广东省汕头市澄海区莲华镇西北部，南隔北溪与隆都镇相望，北与潮州市铁铺镇相接，是“二战”时期的革命老区村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明嘉靖元年（1522年），福建莆田溪南的陈翠南来此建村，村起初叫“陈南美”，后称南美。[2][3] 1953年南美、三洲、下寨合称南美乡，1983年再合设南美乡，属十五乡区。[4]

人口与经济[edit]

2002年全村土地面积0.8629平方千米，耕地733亩，347户1301人，有31个姓氏，陈姓约占总人口的三分之一；村集体经济总收入696万元。[2] 1989至1992年分两期建树基学校新教学楼，2000年4月建成占地4000平方米的灯光篮球场。[2]
