历史沿革[edit]
南宋淳祐十年（1250年），潘、刘、彭三姓人家先后迁到莲花山南麓，与莲花古寺相望处定居。当地遍布白色粗砂，旧称“白砂铺”，后雅称碧砂。[2][3]
人口与经济[edit]
2002年全村土地面积3.0379平方千米，耕地1283亩，802户3488人，有45个姓氏，潘姓最多，其次是林、陈、杜、李、张；村集体经济收入1370.78万元。[2] 水果、蔬菜、禽畜、工厂化食用菌四大基地占耕地的40%，收入占总收入的70%；引进的“赤叶荔枝”、“乌苏杨梅”较有名气。[2] 村里有纸制品、凉果、食用菌、玩具工艺、塑料等小型企业20家。[2]
地理环境与生态[edit]
村里的森林覆盖率达53.1%。村里建起汕头首个用人工湿地处理生活污水的系统，规模为每日1000吨；2001年广东省环保局首次评定生态示范村，碧砂名列其中，获「广东省生态示范村」称号。[2] 莲花山温泉度假村位于村境内的莲花山麓。[2]
