下寨村在广东省汕头市澄海区莲华镇，建村于明天启元年（1621年），村名由“霞寨”谐音而来。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明天启元年（1621年），福建莆田的许、肖两姓来此建村。村在韩江北溪畔，傍晚霞光映照，原称“霞寨”，当地方言中“下”与“霞”同音，后改写为下寨。[1][2] 该地旧属饶平县；1953年下寨、南美、三洲合称南美乡，1957年属十五乡，1959年设下寨生产大队，1983年下寨与南美、三洲合设南美乡，1986年11月撤区置镇，设下寨村。[1]
