历史沿革[edit]
1980年隆城大队一分为四，该村因居东部而名东光；1983年设东光乡，1986年11月撤区置镇，设东光村。[1][3]
人口与经济[edit]
据村所供概况，2008年全村668户2610人，土地总面积约1237.18亩，耕地约534亩，村农民经济总收入约1125万元，村集体经济收入约22万元，村党支部有党员78名。[2] 2017年10月，东光村入选广东省爱国卫生运动委员会公布的首批「广东省卫生村」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
堃庐建于清同治年间，是潮汕传统民居，入选《汕头市第一批潮汕传统民居保护名录》。[4] 它是《潮声十五音》创始人张世珍的故居，现辟为该书的展示馆，由张世珍的曾孙张卓伦任馆主，据百度百科是粤东唯一的潮汕方言展示馆；馆内陈列各时期出版的字典，包括1913年的最早版本，天井里立有张世珍的雕像。[4]
