新寮村是汕头市澄海区莲下镇中部的行政村。北宋末年，替南洋杜姓先祖种田的杨、蔡、朱、许四户人家在此搭寮住下，村名即由新搭的寮而来。[1][2]1998年12月，新寮在粤东率先进行村委会民主选举。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

先后属渡亭乡、八联乡、潮港乡，1958年编为110团；1984年同沟内、陈厝洲合成建新乡，1987年后各自设村。[2]

人口姓氏[edit]

村域0.2平方千米，耕地138亩。2009年底152户691人，有杨、蔡、朱、许4姓，均称来自福建莆田。[2]

经济[edit]

过去多佃耕，兼做土纸，1985年有70多户从事家庭制纸。1987年辟新寮工业区，企业做塑料玩具、南金和粮食加工。1965年办新寮小学，2003年并入建阳小学。[2]
