历史沿革[edit]
林姓约在1500年（明弘治年间）从饶平汫洲迁来。1686年（康熙二十五年）三湾村易名湾兴村，到1914年又拆成南湾、北湾、东湾三村。1984年南份并入，1987年独立设村。[2]
人口姓氏[edit]
村域6.14平方千米，耕地5345亩。有林、张、陈、邵、翁等21姓，林为主姓。[2]
经济[edit]
1978年后以种菜为主，包菜、白菜、芥蓝、瓜类远销省内外；“红旗片”700亩蔬菜基地2000年被省农业厅授予无公害农产品生产基地。南湾蔬菜批发市场1999年迁到红旗路边，占地33亩，据称是潮汕地区最大的蔬菜批发市场之一。1983年黄学敏创办的昂泰企业集团，其珍珠保健系列产品获过国家级博览会金奖。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
妈宫（天后宫）约建于1522年的明嘉靖年间，清同治、光绪年间两次重修。村中还存有一块明代南湾公墓碑。语言学家林伦伦出自此村。[2]
