历史沿革[edit]
相传约1630年的明末，福建莆田崔、沈、银三姓定居在风飞陇南面；康熙年间，南洋许厝的许姓迁入，在风飞陇南北两侧各造一座大谷仓，南边这座所在的村落称南仓，后改叫南村，1764年因濒临南海再改名海后。[2]
1950年同北村、东湾、南份编为四联乡，1953年又与北村、南份组成海后乡，1958年同东湾、北村合编103团，1959年后独立设村。[2]
人口姓氏[edit]
村域1.81平方千米，耕地1600亩。有林、许、陈、黄等8姓。[2]
经济[edit]
村民以种植和养殖为主，1978年后种蔬菜，1996年起每年饲养家禽10万只以上。1986年建蔬菜市场，2001年扩建为农副产品市场，占地7亩；汕头市农副产品加工龙头企业之一的海特果菜公司设在村里。2000年辟美温工业区。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
许总爷府第占地约5亩，仿宫廷建筑设99个门。许丽华是本村人，曾任省侨务办公室副主任。[2]
