历史沿革[edit]
村里的蔡姓来自福建莆田，经澄海龙田迁到此地搭寮落脚，起初叫蔡厝寮，1949年改称蔡寮。建置上几经分合，先后属渡亭乡、八联乡、溪联乡、潮港乡、莲阳下乡，1959年之后单独设村。[1][2]
人口姓氏[edit]
村域0.63平方千米，耕地580亩。2009年底474户2073人，有蔡、李、陈等5姓，以蔡、李为主，李姓来自南洋上巷。村中华侨和港澳同胞近3000人，多在泰国、美国、新加坡。[2]
经济[edit]
1924年村里开始有家庭作坊做土纸，1986年最盛，140多户做纸类行业。1980年代初出现南金（祭祀用金箔纸）业，1992年辟蔡寮工业区，现在以塑料玩具和纸类生产为主。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村内“荣禄第”相传为清雍正年间福建水师提督陈勇所建，中厅挂有御赐“福”字木匾。[2]
