北村是汕头市澄海区莲下镇东南部的行政村，博雅地名网记作北村村。明末，谢、戴二姓由福建莆田迁到风飞陇北侧；康熙年间许姓在北侧所建的粮仓，一带因此得名北仓，后称北村。[1][2]1957年旅泰侨胞余炎欣捐资建成的北村小学，为1949年后澄海县首所由华侨独资捐建的小学。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
1764年划归海后，1914年又分出；其后的四联乡、海后乡、103团等建置与海后相同，1959年后独立设村。1993年被省民政厅确认为老区村。[2]
人口姓氏[edit]
村域1.52平方千米，耕地1055亩。2009年底674户2934人，有许、林、江、郑、刘等11姓，许为主姓。[2]
经济[edit]
村民世代种稻、地瓜和花生，1980年曾组织500多人到深圳开办菜场，1990年代起主要种蔬菜。2001年辟长丰工业区。[2]
文化教育[edit]
1900年在许厝祠堂办私塾。北村小学捐资1.2万元建成，1995年再建新校舍。1941年许乃光受地下党组织委派来校任教，受其影响，乡人江仕耀（烈士）等14人分三批上了凤凰山参加革命。[2]
