下村是汕头市澄海区莲下镇中部的行政村，博雅地名网记作下村村。原与上村合为潮港，1882年分村后因在灰窑头溪下游称潮港下乡，1952年改称下村。^[1]^[2]1979年村里大建沼气池，被定为广东省能源开发试验点。^[2]

历史沿革[edit]

约1640年的明崇祯年间，蔡、李、谢三姓已住在这里。1882年潮港分拆后称潮港下乡，1952年改称下村，1984年与上村合称潮港乡，1987年后独立设村。^[1]^[2]

村域0.43平方千米，耕地351亩。2009年底330户1504人，有蔡、黄、林、谢、曾、许、刘7姓，蔡为主姓，来自澄海龙田。^[2]

旧时村民佃田，种稻和地瓜；1953、1954两年粮食丰产，连获广东省政府嘉奖。1979年建沼气池103个，1985年接受中央农村能源验收组检查。1965年办粉丝厂，1992年、1993年先后开辟沙园、洲园工业区，企业以塑料玩具和纸制品为主。^[2]

2006年，村里的天怡舞蹈艺术中心在央视艺术电视大赛决赛中获舞蹈类儿童组金奖，是澄海区少儿舞蹈首次在央视亮相。2003年下村小学并入莲下中心小学。^[2]
