历史沿革[edit]
槐东同槐泽原为一村，古称上王或王厝，王姓约在1276年自福建莆田迁来。1952年一度分为两乡，1953年复合，1973年以莲下大街为界重新分为两村。[1][2]
人口姓氏[edit]
村域2.53平方千米，耕地2103亩。2009年底2462户9884人，有王、张、杨、李等40多姓，王为主姓。[2]
经济[edit]
村内有溪底、涂区、塞溪3个工业区，截至2008年底有企业188家，涉及木业、南金、工艺、玩具。刘绍喜1995年创办的宜华集团是木制品生产企业，下有2家上市公司。1957年建金兰池市场，1981年建槐东市场，摊点500多个，一度是苏南一带的集贸中心。[2]
文化教育[edit]
槐东学校办于1973年；1988年在旅港侨胞王树歆带头捐助下建起新校舍，占地25亩，1996年评为广东省一级学校，是莲下的中心小学。村民好潮乐，1985年的槐东乐苑和1998年的荫槐潮乐社都在莲下有名。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
村里的主要古迹有连城书屋、关帝庙、妈宫、两院祠，另有南洋寨城遗址。[2]
