沙头村在南雄市水口镇境内，位于水口镇西南部，属革命老区村[1]。下辖15个自然村，分为15个村民小组，共580户、2262人；耕地1850亩，另有林地3200亩。主要作物为黄烟、水稻、花生。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来：据当地说法，村庄坐落在古驿道石子路的垇背，故取名沙头。[2]

1949年设沙头农会，1956年升格为沙头高级社，1963年成为沙头大队；1983年起称沙头乡，1988年称沙头管理区，撤销管理区、设立沙头村委会，一直延续至今。[1]

近年的称号与名单：

  • 2026年1月评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
  • 2023年度广东省民主法治示范村（社区），2024年1月确定。[1]
