沙头村在番禺区沙头街道东南部，与市桥街道相邻，面积约2平方千米，下设14个村民小组。[1]村名由旧称碧沙演变而来，是街道得名的源头。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

传说南宋时建村，村子坐落在沙滩上，背后山岗树木掩映白沙，初名碧沙。碧沙分五坊，以沙头坊为大，人们后来便把碧沙叫作沙头。[1]村委会1987年设立，隶属沙头镇；此后随区划调整，1992年归市桥镇，1993年归市桥街道，2001年归沙头街道。[1]

经济[edit]

村集体收入主要来自出租土地、商铺和仓库。[1]2021年和2022年，沙头村列入淘宝村名单；2019年进入「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单（2018年度）。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

番禺沙头东汉墓群在村内银平路龟岗东麓，1993年起钻探发掘，已知东汉砖室墓22座。[1][3]1999年7月，广州市人民政府将其公布为文物保护单位。[3]
