水南村是广州市增城区新塘镇西南部的行政村，位于东江河畔，邻近黄埔区。2020年，它与夏埔村由原来的南埔村分设而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

水南原是南埔村里的一个自然村，南埔之名按博雅地名网的说法，因它位于新塘水乡的西南部。新中国成立前称南埔，土改后的1951年划为南埔水乡，高级社时期（1956年）分出水南、下埔两社，1958年又合设为南埔大队，隶属新塘公社；1983年改为南埔乡，1987年设南埔村民委员会。[1]

到2020年，原南埔村委会一分为二：水南村委会与夏埔村委会，各自沿用至今。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网在水南村页面上沿用旧称，记南埔村面积约3平方公里，辖水南与夏埔两个自然村，人口分别是2320人和1092人，有十个经济合作社，常住3412人，外来暂住约一万五千人；土地九成已被征用，村民自建厂房出租。[1]

水南白蔗是这里的出产，蔗汁多而清甜，皮薄肉脆。水南村在2019年9月列入广东省2018年「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2021年、2022年进入淘宝村名单。[1]
