塘贝村在行政区划上属从化区鳌头镇，是该镇的一个行政村，村委会设在镇域东部。[1] 全村面积约3平方公里，村民小组共10个，村委会介绍的总人口为1558人（该介绍未注明年份）。村距从化城区约10公里，距鳌头镇中心镇区约10公里。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，1958年，建立塘贝大队，到1983年12月，改设为塘贝乡，到1987年1月，改名塘贝村民委员会，此名沿用到现在。[1]
据博雅地名网，村后的山形似卧牛，山岗周围有好几个山塘，像牛吃饱草后卧在塘边歇息，「贝」与「背」谐音，故称塘贝。[1]
